Geometry in Architecture

As you have seen in my previous posts, Geometry can be found in many aspects of our daily life. As you already know, Geometry is the study of the space. Architecture and Geometry are disciplines that are related, but there is a difference between them, as Architecture can't exist without Geometry while Geometry can exist without Architecture. While we walk around in our city or when we go on holidays to another country, there is always architure around us. Now I will show you some examples of this architecture:

 In the Acient Egypt, Geometry was very developed. Nowadays, in Egypt we can still see the Pyramids that where created as tombs.

The building of the Temple of Luxor is made by two trapeziums and the entrance is formed by two obelisk that have the shape of a rectangular prism.


 In the Alhambra they used Geometry for their buildings and decorations.If you go to the Alhambra you will be attracted by the amount of Geometry you will find around you. The Nasrid art, was developed by the Hispano-Muslims of the Kingdom of Granada, which represents a great development in the concept of symmetry. In the Alhambra we can find different beautiful mosaics like this ones:



 Also in the Ottoman Culture there are great examples of how Geometry has such an importace in Architecture. One of the best examples, is all the buildings made by Mimar Sinan, who was the creater of the majority of the buildings that are the most popular in Istambul.
